Department of the Air Force Generative AI Roundtable

  • Published

The Department of the Air Force Chief Information Officer, and the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office hosted the first of three Generative AI (GenAI) roundtables, May 8, 2024, at the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia.

The roundtable brought together AI leaders from large businesses to identify strategies for effective Generative AI incorporation while reinforcing partnerships with industry and academia.

“It is essential for the Department of the Air Force to deliberately manage the adoption of AI technologies to ensure GenAI capabilities are secure and limit mission risk,” said DAF Chief Information Officer Venice Goodwine. “By leveraging the knowledge of our partners in industry and academia, these roundtables will aid in establishing the right Gen AI approach for the DAF.”

Roundtables are intended to help the department identify strategies to effectively incorporate Gen AI and create an informed awareness on how these platforms can enhance operations.

The following two roundtables will be for small businesses on May 16, and for academia on May 30. For more information and a chance to attend visit SAM.gov.

“Partnership produces progress,” said Chandra Donelson, DAF Acting Chief Data and AI Officer. “I am thankful for our partners who have and continue to collaborate with us, so we can provide Airmen and Guardians the capabilities they need to perform their missions at the speed of relevance.”

DAF AI roundtables are for market research purposes and intended to foster meaningful discussions with the DAF CDAO concerning GenAI. These events do not constitute or guarantee a subsequent contract award from the government. Participation is voluntary and is not an opportunity to sell products and/or services.
